World Champs Wrap Up

Now that I’ve had a few days to let everything soak in, I’m still speechless. I can’t believe I just raced in World Championships on my home track. I feel like the place I finished in (16th) is just a number… Looking back, that’s really the only aspect of the week that I’m disappointed with. I just watched my race online to figure out what went wrong with my times… I was surprised to see that my trips looked as good as they felt. Of course there were a few things that I could have improved on but overall I can’t complain. I had two personal best start times in the race, which was HUGE for me! The push is one of my biggest weaknesses so I was really excited to see those improvements. I’m taking a lot of positive things away from this experience and can’t wait to start my summer training.
This weekend was so much fun because I had an awesome fan club at the race. My parents and three friends from Denison were cheering me on (even in the rain)! When I saw them at the finish line, it put everything into perspective... all of the sudden it meant more than just a 16th place finish. My college friends have never seen skeleton in person so I’m sure they think I’m EXTRA crazy now! Haha

Lake Placid really put on a great show… I loved seeing all the hype at my home track. What an awesome way to end the year!
