VENICE

I’d like to start by saying that if you ever have the opportunity to visit Venice… GO! Even if it’s just a short trip like I did, it’s definitely worth it! Stokes and I flew into Munich two days early and made a slight detour on our way to Torino. I never realized Venice was only and hour and a half out of our way! When we arrived, the fog was so dense that we couldn’t even see what was across the canal in front of our hotel. I was kind of bummed because I had several people warned me it wasn’t the best time of the year to visit such a neat place. They were about to be right until I woke up the next morning to a crystal clear sun raise… my jet lag had me up bright and early! Stokes and I were SUPER tourists! We ate at amazing “hole-in-the-wall” Italian restaurants where they served wine on draft! We figured out public water transportation, faced the pigeons in San Marco's Square, got lost in back allies and tired to blend in at local bars! Haha We really had an amazing time finding our way around and seeing as much as possible in a day and a half. I was also in heaven taking pictures because everything I saw looked like a post card! Anyway, to say the least, it was the best detour I’ve made this year and would recommend it to anyone. Here are a few pictures… and my favorite....

Pros of Venice in the Winter:
-Less tourists and crowds
-The canals don’t smell (apparently they have a nasty stench when it’s hot outside-yuck)
-The gondola rides are cheaper
-Hotels are inexpensive
-You get to hang out with more locals at the bar

The canals don't really smell - even in the summer. I'd always heard that, too, but they've really cleaned the place up in the last decade or two.

I love me some Venice!
