Park City ICC Race

It really was gorgeous in Park City today. The sun was out, the track was fast and two of my best friends came to watch the race. Marci and Kim (both former teammates) flew from the east coast be here. It really means a lot having them here… It's like “old times” and a lot of great memories have resurfaced of when we were all sliding together. Those were hands down the best times I’ve had in this sport to date. Thanks for coming girls!!!
(KIM & MARCI AT THE START)Well, today I ended up 10th. The bright side is that I finished 12th here last year but unfortunately I had higher hopes for this race. I definitely have some reflecting to do on what happened because I made some big mistakes in both runs. I had trouble all week in training but I honestly believed I would be able to piece together the puzzle for today… didn’t happen. I have no excuses for the way I slid… I wasn’t on my game and that’s just a part of racing. There are always going to be good days and bad days. It’s tough starting off the season so well and then turning up a performance like this but it’s not the end of the world. I learned a lot of what not to do today ;) With that said, I’m a bit reserved to announce that I had a PR down time. That just goes to show how nice the ice was. I can only imagine how much I would have broken it by if I had decent runs! Haha
The hardest part of the week is still ahead of me. I’m mentally exhausted and physically run down but I will have to pull it together for another race tomorrow. It will be a challenge for sure, but I’ll give it my best shot. Unfortunately it’s suppose to snow on us in the morning which we all hate… but we’ll see what happens!
