IT’S A NEW SEASON!!
HI!!!! It’s a new season and we’ve been on the ice for a week now… the track is in unbelievable condition for sliding this early in the year and the weather has been perfect. We’ve already slid in the low 57s (only about a second from the track record) which is unheard of the first week the track is open. We’re all keeping our fingers crossed that it doesn’t get too warm next week like they’re predicting. That will cause the ice to get frosty and slow… yuck. Sliding has been going well for me. I got a new sled, which I’m so excited about. I’ve only had one sled my entire career and I bought it from another slider used 5 years ago.
I had planned on staying with my old sled for trials because that is what I’m most comfortable with and know how to drive. We have less than two weeks of training this year before we race so I was hesitant to jump on a new sled and add more variables to the puzzle. With that said, I decided to just try it and absolutely fell in love. It’s very different from my old sled but it’s something I can definitely get used to and think it will benefit me in the long run. Team trails are always a nerve-racking time because it determines what tour you will be on (World Cup, Intercontinental Cup, Europa Cup or America’s Cup). There is an explanation of each tour on the “Results” page of my website. We are all shooting for two open spots on the World Cup Team. It’s going to be a tough fight but I’m looking forward to it. I’ve prepared myself to the best of my ability and I’m ready to race.
Stay tuned for updates and results through this crazy process!
