Lake Placid Team Trials
WOW… my first big win! It feels great but it’s definitely overshadowed by the two remaining races in Park City! I was super excited but I know how quickly the table can turn so I need to stay focused. I have big goals set for this season and any kind of premature celebrating isn’t going to help me in the long run. Don’t get me wrong, I was smiling from ear-to-ear, but it was more about proving to myself that I had the ability to succeed rather than the actual victory itself.
The real emotions will surely come out at the end of this race series. There may be a smaller field of girls this year but the competition is as fierce as ever. I’m really looking forward to Park City… it’s a completely different track than Lake Placid so I’m going to have to make some adjustments but I can't wait! Earlier this week I was wishing the races to be over and done with. Part of me was nervous and part of me was so curious to know what the outcome would be. I still don’t know how things will turn out but these past few days reminded me why I love Skeleton and competing so much. It’s the nervousness in your stomach, it’s your heart beating strong inside your chest, it’s digging deep and finding that extra courage and energy to give it your all. It’s figuring out how to control those nerves and being able to put your mind at ease with so much going on around you. It’s about pushing your limits, knowing your job and executing your goals. I could go on and on about what racing means to me…it’s an awesome feeling. I wouldn’t want to wish that away for anything. Through it all, I am most happy that I was able to remain myself and had fun. Now on to the nest step... See you in Park City!

PS: this time last year I was trying my hardest to imporve my start times. My best was a 5.71 in Lake Placid and I'm proud to report that my summer training is paying off and I pushed a 5.60 on race day!! Woohoo
Special thanks to Maric and Kim for coming back to cheer everyone on!! (and for the great pictures!!) We miss you!! Also, thanks Mom and Dad for making the trip...so glad you could be here!!
